You’re probably reading this to see what meme stocks I’m trading. Sorry to disappoint you, but as many of you know that isn’t a game I play. So no AMC (AMC), GameStop (GME) or Blackberry (BB) moves to report. I will admit, it does add another form of entertainment to the stock market.
The high level of volatility in the meme names has had zero bearing on the overall market. We continue to see the Dow and S&P 500 bumping up against all time highs. The nasdaq has been trading sideways in a certain range for a while now.
I think a question many are wondering is where are we headed from here? Growth and technology took off during the pandemic to set all time highs. Now with things getting back to pre pandemic life we have seen the stocks that got hammered during the pandemic, skyrocket to their all time highs. Value, energy, cyclicals etc. are now seeing their all time highs, while growth and technology have been driven lower.
With a lot of the market at reasonably priced levels I haven’t been making many moves. I’ve got some cash ready to deploy if stocks I like go down. That’s just what I did in adding to my Disney position.
With the mid year point approaching, I will be getting ready to rebalance and review both my actively managed and passive portfolios. I want to be sure I’m positioned where I want to be for the second half of the year.
Moves I’ve Made
Disney (DIS) - Due to a weaker than expected streaming subscribers number, the stock sold off after earnings. With the parks which is their main revenue stream back up and running, I added to my position. I’m also planning a trip in July to Disney and can see the high costs and demand they currently have.
What I’m Watching
Oshkosh (OSK) - This is a stock I missed on the way up. Almost pulled the trigger multiple times under $75. But sometimes you miss out. On a market pullback this is a name that will be on my shopping list, especially with the addition of Douglas Davis to their board. What he brings from Intel is a technology and automation background. If electric can be implemented into the stable of equipment they produce, this stock has a massive upside.
