The Coffee Table ☕
I enjoyed The Gap Between Knowing and Doing by Derek Hagen. An excellent reminder that knowing is worthless without doing. You have to act and do sonething. I know so many that fall into the perpetual learner category that never do anything with all they know.
Just before Christmas, we took a family trip to Chicago to see the Chicago Botanical Garden of Lights. It’s one of the largest lightscapes in the country. We’ve heard how awesome this was and it didn’t disappoint. It really is one of the most magical things you can do over the Christmas season. I can see why it’s as popular as it is. The kids, my wife and I all enjoyed it. Well worth the trip!
A few months back, I was finally able to get a bottle of one of my all-time favorite bourbons, EH Taylor Barrel Proof. It’s extremely hard to find and I wanted to save it for a special occasion. Hitting our Spilled Coffee milestone on Christmas called for opening it up.
To the nose I get strawberry, brown sugar, gingerbread and root beer. To taste I get pecans, caramel, vanilla, and dark fruits. I could go on as this bourbon is packed with flavor. Don’t let the high proof scare you. I get very little alcohol and instead loads of rich flavors. It’s at the top of the mountain for me. I would select a pour of this over any other bourbon I’ve had. That includes any of the Pappy Van Winkle.
